Six Senses Laamu
Olhuveli · Laamu Atoll
Luxury · domestic-flight-plus-speedboat · 70 min · $900 – $4,000 / night
Six Senses Laamu is a haven for couples and solo travelers who value deep relaxation, remote beauty, and exceptional sustainability practices. With an excellent house reef and a focus on eco-certified experiences, it provides a quiet and secluded escape in the distant Laamu Atoll. Four dining venues, including a spectacular overwater option, emphasize fresh, sustainable ingredients, catering to a sophisticated and mindful clientele.
Getting There
A domestic flight of approximately 45 minutes to Kaadedhdhoo Airport in Laamu Atoll, followed by a 25-minute speedboat to the resort — approximately 70 minutes total. The speedboat leg offers good reef views. No seaplane required, so daylight restrictions don't apply.
Food
Four restaurants including a spectacular overwater venue and a beach bar with casual dining. The food philosophy is sustainability-led — locally sourced where possible, organic produce prioritised. Dietary requirements including vegan are handled fluently.
The Vibe
Deeply relaxed and deliberately remote. The long transfer from Malé filters the guest profile heavily — most guests have specifically chosen Laamu for its seclusion and reef quality. The atmosphere reflects that intentionality.
Activities
Surfing is an unusual differentiator — Six Senses Laamu is one of very few luxury resorts with direct access to a surf break. The dive programme is excellent, the yoga schedule is comprehensive, and the marine biology team runs reef education sessions.
The Reef
The house reef at Six Senses Laamu is among the healthiest in the Maldives — remarkably high coral coverage, abundant green turtles in the seagrass zones, and regular reef shark and ray sightings. Access is best from Jetty A or the Chill Bar area. Guests in villas further along other jetties should bike across — it's worth the short ride.
Kids' Club
No dedicated kids' club, though Six Senses Laamu has nature and wellness activities suitable for older children. The surf break and marine biology programme appeal to teenagers specifically.
What Guests Say
Six Senses Laamu features an extraordinarily healthy house reef, with high coral coverage. The resort offers four dining venues, including an impressive overwater restaurant, and cultivates a deeply relaxed, remote atmosphere. The extended transfer ensures a more secluded experience.
