Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi offers an expansive and diverse luxury experience, renowned for its extensive culinary offerings and vibrant social scene. It's an excellent choice for couples, families, and groups seeking variety and sophisticated choices. With eleven restaurants, including the famed Ithaa Undersea Restaurant, and a comprehensive activity program, guests enjoy both relaxation and engaging experiences.
Getting There
Forty-five minutes by private speedboat from Malé to South Malé Atoll. No daylight restriction — guests can arrive on any flight. A smooth and straightforward transfer.
Food
Eleven restaurants and bars — one of the widest choices in the Maldives. This includes the world-famous Ithaa Undersea Restaurant, a fully submerged dining room 5 metres below the ocean surface. Booking Ithaa well in advance is essential.
The Vibe
Moderate in scale and social energy. The range of restaurants and bars creates genuine evening life, and the resort's size means there's always a quieter corner if you want one. Families and couples coexist comfortably.
Activities
The activity standout is the Ithaa Undersea Restaurant — globally unique and bookable as an experience in itself. The water sports centre is extensive and the dive programme covers some of South Ari Atoll's best sites including whale shark territory.
The Reef
The reef is reachable from shore but reviewers note access is slightly awkward — you wade through the shallows to reach the outer wall. Once there, fish life is good and the occasional reef shark and turtle make appearances. The real underwater draw is the resort's proximity to whale shark territory in South Ari Atoll.
Kids' Club
No dedicated kids' club, but the Ithaa Undersea Restaurant and extensive activity options make it appealing for families with older children who can appreciate the experiences.

It balances scale and social energy, with vibrant evening life that might not suit those seeking absolute tranquility.
