Getting There
A 40-minute seaplane ride that passes over some of the most photogenic atolls in the Maldives. Daylight-only operation. The resort's team meets guests at the seaplane terminal with dedicated transport.
Food
Six dining venues including an underground wine cellar and a dedicated sushi counter. The food at Velaa consistently ranks among the top three in the Maldives, with a resident master sushi chef and a wine list that runs to several thousand labels.
The Vibe
Among the most private resorts in the Maldives. The guest-to-staff ratio is nearly 1:1 and the resort is small enough that you rarely see other guests. Velaa attracts high-profile guests specifically because of this discretion.
Activities
Velaa has activities that simply don't exist elsewhere in the Maldives — a golf course on a resort island, a professional tennis academy with a former ATP coach, and a two-storey wine library. The diving programme is exceptional and the overwater fitness centre is genuinely well-equipped.
The Reef
Guests report a healthy reef with good access from the island's main jetty. Turtles and reef sharks are regular sightings. The dive centre is excellent and offers excursions to some of Noonu Atoll's more spectacular outer sites, which are where the truly standout encounters happen.
Kids' Club
Velaa has one of the largest kids' clubs in the Maldives, with a full programme of activities for children of all ages. Marine biology sessions, creative workshops, and water activities are all included. A genuinely family-friendly resort despite its ultra-luxury positioning.
