Soneva Fushi

Kunfunadhoo · Baa Atoll

Ultra-Luxury · seaplane · 35 min · $1,800 – $8,000 / night

All-inclusive available

Soneva Fushi sets the standard for rustic luxury, celebrated for its 'no news, no shoes' philosophy. It's ideal for discerning travelers seeking discreet service and genuine relaxation, perfect for couples, families, and solo adventurers alike. Explore nine distinct dining experiences, from barefoot grills to treetop fine dining, and revel in the expansive, secluded island environment that allows for true escapism.

Getting There

A 35-minute seaplane from Malé terminal — scenic, smooth, and genuinely exciting for first-timers. Seaplanes operate daylight hours only, so late-arriving flights may require a Malé hotel overnight. The resort arranges this smoothly.

Food

Nine restaurants ranging from a barefoot beach grill to a treetop fine dining experience. The emphasis is on organic produce — much of it grown in the resort's own gardens — and freshly caught seafood. Dietary requirements are handled with genuine care rather than as an afterthought.

The Vibe

Deliberately barefoot and unhurried. No schedules, no dress codes, no expectations beyond relaxing. The large island means you can walk for 20 minutes and find a completely deserted stretch of beach. It draws a mix of honeymooners, families with older children, and solo travellers who want space to think.

Activities

The breadth of activities at Soneva Fushi is genuinely extraordinary — from a private observatory with resident astronomer to a chocolate and ice cream-making room, glass-blowing studio, and cinema on the beach. The diving programme is excellent and the marine biology team runs educational reef tours daily. Activity here feels like genuine discovery rather than a scheduled programme.

The Reef

Four access points let you slip in directly from the beach. Turtles are regulars, blacktip reef sharks patrol the drop-off in the late afternoon, and on the sunset side dolphins occasionally appear in the channel. A resident marine biologist leads guided snorkel tours daily and arranges night swims to see octopus and bioluminescent plankton.

Kids' Club

Den — Soneva's children's programme — is one of the most genuinely impressive kids' clubs in the world. It includes a telescope observatory for children, a chocolate workshop, a pottery studio, and supervised reef snorkelling. Children are treated as curious individuals rather than managed.
